SMOUV sleeves for fiber-optic fusion splices can be used to rebuild the primary coating of fiber to provide protection at the fusion joint area.

  
SMOUV sleeve consists of a rod for reinforcing the splice, a low-temperature hot-melt adhesive to encapsulate and strengthen the splice, and a clear, heat-shrinkable tube.
